Inside NZDRU
Vision
NZDRU promotes Deaf and hearing impaired players with an ultimate goal to win through pride, passion and motivation.
Every year 3 regional teams compete at the NZ Deaf Rugby Championships since 1990. They are hosted in turn by the 3 Deaf Rugby Unions. The winning team is awarded the NZDRU Rugby Shield each year since 1994. NZDRU is an affiliated associate member of NZ Rugby Union since 1995.
Objectives
- NZDRU promotes the participation of Deaf and hearing impaired players in rugby activities.
- NZDRU fosters Deaf international or inter-zone matches.
- NZDRU acts as a central advisory, consultative and co-ordinating body related to rugby events, games and activities for Deaf and hearing impaired players.
